Indigenous Women Lead and Inspire at 2024 Industry Summit at Wai Ariki

In a celebration of leadership and cultural heritage, Wai Ariki Hot Springs and Spa recently played host to the 2024 Indigenous Women in Industry (IWI) Summit.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Rotorua, New Zealand, this two-day economic summit brought together 80 remarkable indigenous women from around the world, offering a platform for networking, empowerment and inspiration.

Wai Ariki provided the perfect tranquil setting for the group of leaders to share their experiences, insights and aspirations. The summit aimed to challenge conventional narratives and redefine the role of indigenous women in various industries.

Through panel discussions, workshops and keynote speeches, participants explored topics ranging from entrepreneurship and innovation to cultural preservation and environmental sustainability.

In perfect alignment with Wai Ariki’s ethos, Debbie Guptill-Robertson, General Manager at Wai Ariki emphasised the significance of Rotorua’s geothermal healing waters and the rich storytelling heritage of the local Māori culture.

“Wai Ariki is inspired and owned by local iwi, Ngāti Whakaue and features two main spa areas, the Wai Whakaora (Restorative Journey) and the exclusive Āhuru Mōwai (The Sanctuary). Both are places of peace and tranquility, founded on te ao Māori values, traditions and culture and are unique not only in Aotearoa, New Zealand but around the world.

Debbie expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to share the space, “We were blessed to share Wai Ariki with so many pioneering leaders from across the globe for the 2024 IWI Summit and look forward to creating more opportunities for meaningful connections in the years to come.”
