Wai Ariki Named Finalist in Two Categories at the World Spa Awards 2026

Wai Ariki Hot Springs & Spa has been named a finalist in two categories at the prestigious World Spa Awards 2026, recognising the unique cultural wellness experience offered in the heart of Rotorua.

Since opening in 2023, Wai Ariki has welcomed manuhiri (visitors) from around Aotearoa and around the world to experience wellness grounded in te ao Māori (the Māori worldview), geothermal healing, and manaakitanga (hospitality and care).

From Wai Whakaora (Restorative Journey) and geothermal bathing experiences to spa therapies inspired by mātauranga Māori (Māori knowledge), every aspect of Wai Ariki is shaped by a connection to whenua (land), wai (water), and the cultural traditions of Ngāti Whakaue.

The dual nominations recognise the dedication of the Wai Ariki team and the growing reputation of Rotorua as a destination for cultural and geothermal wellbeing.

Being named alongside leading wellness destinations from around the world is a significant achievement for both Wai Ariki and Aotearoa New Zealand, highlighting the global appeal of experiences that are deeply connected to culture, place, and authentic storytelling.
