12. Puna Tio – Ice Plunge Pool
Māori utilized water at various temperatures to help ease muscle fatigue and other health ailments.
The use of water evolved as the regular use of bathing became an important piece for personal health.
Māori Warriors after battle would often sought recuperation in these baths, relieving tired and battered bodies after fighting.
Bathing became a common pastime before the eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886.
Also during this time, physical exercise in conjunction with cold baths, mud experience, massages, and strategic use of nature (Herbal bathing) used to enhance the effects of the bath.
Our ice cold plunge pool will help to improve circulation and restore tired muscles.
